BEACH SAFETY RULES TO AVOID ACCIDENTS!

A trip to the seaside can be a wonderful way to relax in the sunshine (or the rain, if visiting one of the English Beaches!). However, whether you are travelling abroad or staying close to home it is important to remember basic beach safety rules to avoid accidents.

Generally, visitors to the beach are asked not to bring glass bottles or picnic items onto the beach for fear of them breaking and becoming involved in a beach accident. It is particularly dangerous if glass gets washed out to sea as the tide can cause the glass to smash against the sea walls leaving broken glass all around the shoreline.

Glass and other objects such as hard plastic packaging, tin cans and even hypodermic needles can become buried in the sand.  It is therefore essential to be aware of hazards and potential hazards if planning a trip to the beach.  This includes checking the area beforehand, not going bare-foot on the beach etc.

It may also be worth finding out who is responsible for the health and safety or maintenance of the beach. If a beach/holiday accident does occur, the relevant authority or organisation will have to be shown to be negligent for compensation to be awarded.

At Forster Dean our specialist solicitors will be able to provide you with the straightforward legal advice you require.  Not only to determine whether you have a claim for compensation but also to bring such a claim to a swift and satisfying conclusion.
